  Breed: Fawn Pug

  Weight: 15 lbs

  Age: 9 years old

  Gender: Female

I live in a safe and dog friendly part of San Francisco (Lake Merced /Lakeshore) with my two spayed female pugs. Because I’m semi retired, I have lots of time to spend in the company of dogs. My warm home is fully fenced with an enclosed yard. We go on two or three walks around my quiet neighborhood plus nearby Stern Grive Dog Park half a mile away, hang out and watch TV together. My girls sleep on my bed. I’d love to exchange dog care. My two adorable pug half sisters are a bonded pair, a yin yang combination of naughty and nice. Sunny is my active little black pug with of pep and energy. Sunny is also happy to chill and relax. She tends to hang out on her own on the bed or couch but is happy to get belly rubs and cuddles. Flair is my fluffy puff of classic pug love. She is very affectionate and loves to hang out on your lap. They are also SG Giants and Golden State Warriors fans and allow me to yell and scream at the TV. Typical pugs, they love food but I will limit treat intake.

We are a family of three—my husband, 12-year old daughter, and me. Yobi is a wonderful addition to our family. We take her on walks at least two times a day.

Cole

SF, CA

  Breed: Korean Jindo Dog

  Weight: 25 lbs

  Age: 2 years old

  Gender: Male

Hi, I’m Cindy and I’m a new dog mom to Cole, who is a rescue pup from South Korea. Cole is a Korean Jindo mix and was found with his 5 siblings and mama behind a factory in the middle of winter. We usually take Cole out 3x a day. He’s potty trained, very food motivated, knows all the basic commands (sit, stay, wait, leave it, drop it), doesn't bark much or at all, and does really well with other dogs (doesn't bark at them, even when they're barking at him). Since he’s a rescue, he does have a lil bit of stranger danger with people, but will warm up to you if you have snacks and give him some time. If you wanna know more about Cole, he has an Instagram (@colethewaisikpup).

Doogie & Fawnsy

SF, CA

  Breed: Chihuahua

  Weight: 15 lbs

  Age: 5 years old

  Gender: Male

  Breed: Chihuahua

  Weight: 10 lbs

  Age: 3 years old

  Gender: Female

My boyfriend and I live in Daly City and have two small Chihuahuas. They are rescues and are rather special. Doogie is very fearful and shy, but he is treat motivated. Fawnsy is fearful at first, but becomes a firecracker full of energy and loves to give kisses and attack your face. We've had family watch them several times and Doogie basically hides/sleeps all day. Fawnsy takes a full day or so to warm up to new people, once she's more comfortable she's got way more energy than Doogs and likes to eat bones, play with her squeaky toys, and give cuddles. Neither dog does great with other dogs and can become defensive/loud and somewhat nippy. They do fine with dogs that are similar in size and ignore them. We are happy to host your small dog in return! Paul is in law school and spends about 60% of his time at home and the rest on campus. I work from home 3 days a week and 2 in office. If hosting your dog we would not leave them alone ever, especially given our dogs unique temperaments/personalities.

Benny

SF, CA

  Breed: Rottweiler

  Weight: 100 lbs

  Age: 4 years old

  Gender: Male

Hi! This is Benny. He's a 95ish lbs Rottweiler, not neutered (yet! we're waiting for him to finish growing) male. He's very friendly with people and other dogs (with the exception of other intact males), and he grew up with kittens and rats so he gets along well with other animals as well. He's just over 2 years old, so he's still a bit "puppy-brained" in that he can get overexcited and forget his manners a little bit, especially when meeting new friends, but he loves to cuddle and play. But he's very food motivated and easy to train and redirect as well. He does tend to pull on a leash, we're working on it, but we walk him with a Halti and it really helps. My husband Jonathon and I recently moved from Iowa. I grew up on a farm around a lot of animals and have lots of experience and am very comfortable with large and small dogs. We are in an apartment but there's large grassy areas for walking and dog parks close by. We are located by Lake Merced/Stonestown/San Francisco State University

Murphy

SF, CA

  Breed: Aussiedoodle

  Weight: 70 lbs

  Age: 4 years old

  Gender: Male

We are a family of 5 with three pets - 1 dog and two cats. Our dog Murphy is friendly and loves to play with other dogs of all ages and sizes. He is 2 years old, 75 pounds and still has a lot of puppy energy. He has zero issues with kids, adults or cats. He was crate trained as a puppy but no longer uses one. He does rest on his dog bed as a chill zone. Any dog we host needs to be friendly to kids (ours are 12, 16 and 18) and tolerate cats (our cats will ignore or may hiss and run away). We live in San Francisco and have a large fenced in back yard where the dogs can play. We are also in a very walkable neighborhood and close to a dog park. We are open to host for dog play dates and short term over night stays.

My foster mom is willing to drive anywhere in the Bay Area for someone to take care of me and she will gladly return the favor when she can! Our girls are 17 and 11. I love to read, love the mountains (I dream of owning a family cabin someday), l'm a homebody, love to sing, play trivia games, cook, eat tacos and baked brussels sprouts, decorate my house, and I just recently started collecting houseplants. My quiet place is my car. I sit in it and scroll through reddit before I go inside. I'm Christian but not the judgy, shaming, weird kind. I love people and their stories. I would like to enjoy weight training and exercising but I'm not there yet. Our Casey girl is super sweet, she loves to cuddle and lay around all day. She doesn’t need walks. She’s good with other dogs, but I don’t know how she is with cats. She’s good with kids.

Rieka

SF, CA

  Breed: Mutt

  Weight: 85 lbs

  Age: 3 years old

  Gender: Female

Hello! Rieka n.; power of the wolf, power of home, peaceful ruler. Rieka is a low-content (10%) unspayed wolf-dog. She is loud and growly, but in action her physical play is tender and sweet. Willing dogs often find that they love her. I say willing because Rieka was the size of our average dog here in San Francisco when I got her at 6 months of age- about 40 pounds. She has been barked at by smaller dogs for merely existing since she was a puppy, and I think it made her sad. I finally began telling her about a year ago that she is a good dog every time a dog barks at her in passing. I think she believes me, as she does when I tell her "it's ok" when fireworks go off. She has a generally calm temperament with bouts of moodiness during her heat cycle. I will NOT leave her with anyone during those twice annual occurrences of about a month each time. Rieka sheds minimally about 10 months out of the year, and twice annually she sheds her undercoat which is an endeavor of it's own- one id leave up to the potential human caregiver to reckon with on their own as far as choosing to take her or not during shedding season. She will leave smears of fluff on anything she rubs up against, including you if you're so lucky to be the object of her affections. She is a dog's dog, but warms up to particular people. Her and I are bonded with a relationship built on trust not treats. She is not food motivated, and I consider it a move backward to try to get her to be. Your relationship with her must be special and deeply understanding. (This is not to say that she doesn't like to be treated because she does, generally speaking; and specifically, she goes for the treats being handed out at our local dog park... Sometimes rejecting them but loves to be included). I told myself when I got her in June of 2021 that I needed to listen to her at least as much as I expect her to listen to me. She does well off leash with me but I'd expect others to only take her out with a lead, as I would do with others' dogs. Rieka is not a violent dog, has no history of aggression, no bites, nothing. On the contrary, she does what she can to avoid aggression- even rough play- she is more of a lover, even a kanoodler with some dogs. But like I said about her being loud and growly, when she gets riled up by a dog, instead of a little yap it's a full on irritated growl. I always intervene immediately, as much for managing the perception of others (who unfortunately don't understand northern breeds) as to correct Rieka's attitude- usually a loud "hey!" to get Rieka's attention and if she needs a break I make sure she gets one. Rieka is adored by the masses*. I didn't know I was going to be the bodyguard of a celebrity when I brought her home, and frankly it's a lot of work having to be so front-facing with the external world even if it's a curt response saying something about not wanting to have the same conversation for the 50th time. We are not a zoo, I am no a zookeeper, and Rieka is not part of a petting zoo. I do encourage petting (under the chin, not on top of the head) when the conditions are right, but generally teaching others' to respect her boundaries is a requisite. Children smaller or younger than your average 12 year old are best redirected away from Rieka, not because she will hurt them but for her sake. Rieka was chased a few times by kids before I began my fierce advocate role, and she doesn't trust kids. Off leash she just walks the other way, on leash she hides behind me, and on rare occasion she barks at kids just to say "keep your distance." Rieka Isleen (@riekaisleen IG) loves everything about the beach, as well as hiking through the trees and coastal trails. She has yet to discover snow but she wears her snow shoes (aka muppet feet, aka Clydesdale feet) everyday... Her love languages are adventure, exploration, adoration and affirming language. I don't call her a bad dog I redirect unwanted behaviors and view her disobedience as intelligent. Her intelligent disobedience is always trying to tell me something. I could go on and on... Isleen n.; vision, dream With love, Holly and Rieka *Rieka is doted upon all day long, but there are a lot of apprehensive people due to her size and appearance.
